Favorite Walt Disney World Resorts

Favorite Walt Disney World Resorts

Staying on-site at a Walt Disney World Resort offers many benefits such as extra hours in the parks, package delivery, Disney transportation, free Magic Bands with early access to booking fastpasses, and even more! Having visited Walt Disney World over 60 times, and staying at most all resorts, I thought it would be fun to ask 18 of my friends to also share their favorites!

Deluxe Resorts

Before joining the Disney Vacation Club in 2002, we spent almost all of our trips at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. We love the Hawaiian-theming, easy monorail access, and volcano pool. Here are a few reasons others love this resort too:

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

“Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort gives me the feeling of traveling somewhere exotic. I love the attention to detail, the restaurants, and Dole Whips!”
Patty Moliterno A Mother’s Random Thoughts and WDWPOV

There is nothing like sitting poolside and seeing Cinderella’s Castle in the distance! Plus, being on the monorail is the best!
Carrie Hurst A Princess and Her Pirates

“The location on the monorail look makes it convenient for families. At times you forget you are actually at Walt Disney World. It is also home to some of the best restaurants on the property such as ‘Ohana and Kona Café.”
Lisa Cameron Adventures in Familyhood

“I mean Dole Whips at your fingertips, fabulous restaurants, and a tremendous view of Happily Ever After.”
Tina Brown Footprints in Pixie Dust

Stepping it up a notch to Club Level at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort: “I love when I step into the lobby, and they place the lei around my neck and escort my family to our building. Also, I love the beautiful views of the Seven Seas Lagoon and of the Castle from the Club Level lounge and the rooms.”
Kim Seghers This Ole Mom

My other favorite deluxe is Disney’s Beach Club Resort (and it’s sister resort Disney’s Yacht Club Resort). When I go to Florida, I want to feel like I am at the beach. This resort has a beautiful beachfront view with the very best pool complex on the property – it is a mini water park! Others also love this resort with a prime location:

Disney’s Beach Club Resort

Melissa Russo of The Farm Girl Gabs loves Disney’s Beach Club and Yacht Club resorts because of their easy walking access to Epcot.

“Disney’s Yacht Club because it’s clean, has great service and their pool is amazing! My favorite is the beachfront view from the rooms.”
Jennifer My Boys and Their Toys

If you are looking for more outdoorsy accommodations, these friends can recommend:

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge

“Copper Creek Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort is tops for Allison Jones of Jones Family Travels  “These cabins sit right on the water with spectacular views of Happily Ever After Fireworks an Electrical Water Pageant. You can even relax in the hot tub on the patio with your favorite drink.”

Savannah at Animal Kingdom Lodge

“Animal Kingdom Lodge is permanently locked at the top of my list. Is there any better way to wake up in the morning than sipping on coffee on the balcony while watching the wildlife wander the savannah?”
Theresa Mabe In Sight: Full Life

Moderate Resorts

Moderate resorts tend to be larger and more spread out. However, Disney’s Port Orleans resort size is perfect, and we love the theming. You may question if you are at Walt Disney World or New Orleans, Louisiana. No worries though, it is very family friendly – and those beignets!  Friends say:

Port Orleans French Quarter

“Port Orleans French Quarter will always be my favorite because of the small size which makes it an easy resort to get around. The easy and relaxing boat access to Disney Springs is important for my family.”
Janice Brady An Open Suitcase

Jamie Welch-Schelin Florida’s Family Fun agrees with Janice and says her kids love the pool.

“I did a getaway with my daughter at Port Orleans Riverside in the Princess-themed room and LOVED it.”
Emily The Journey of Parenthood

“We love the charm of the resort, the pool options are great, but most notably being able to take the water to taxi to Disney Springs.”
Janine Young Along with the Youngs

Caribbean Beach Resort is very popular with guests, especially with the themed pirate rooms.

Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort – early 2000’s

“Caribbean Beach Resort because it is so close to the Boardwalk and Epcot.”
Megan Miller Gingy Love

Value Resorts

Value resorts are very popular with families and tour groups. Art of Animation is my favorite with the larger than life themes from Disney Classics.  There are many choices though and here are few my fellow bloggers recommend:

Disney’s Pop Century Resort

“We love Pop Century because it is affordable for a family on a budget.”
Lucy McKenzie Giggle Box Tells It Like It Is

“Fort Wilderness – we love bringing our camper to Disney and not only enjoying super cheap lodging, but the Fort has a ton of great amenities.”
Devon Weaver Mama Cheaps

Ashley Saunders Ashley & Company loves Art of Animation theming and the extra room available in the suites.

Being local and taking advantage of staycations, Angie Rumpf of Disney Parents also prefers Art of Animation. “Because our three children are under the age of 10, the pool area is easily manageable, and there is something for each of their personalities.”

Check out the photo gallery of Art of Animation at the Orlando Sentinel.

Do you have favorite Walt Disney World resorts that you don’t see listed? What makes that resort(s) special to you?

May your next Disney stay be your favorite!
